Discovery Monday – Running with other dogs

2014_aussietunnel

We’re quietly anticipating the upcoming World Agility Open Championships in Italy. There’s a great team going from Australia, and I was wondering how they were going to get their dogs all the way to Italy, then back again with Quarantine times etc.

Then I discovered that the teams don’t actually run their own dogs! WOW! So first of all – these superb handlers have to accomplish amazing milestones with their own doggies at home, then they get to show off all their skills handling with “loaner” dogs. The “loaner” dogs are superb themselves, with amazing pedigree in Agility.

I’m following the news of the Agility Dog Association of Australia on Facebook. They have all the Team Australia updates. Here’s the latest video.

It’s also great to hear how these handlers adjust and review their own training while in preparation.

A great way to learn for all of us, even if we’re just watching.
