Discovery Mondays – Learning every day
It’s a big thing to look inside yourself and recognise the ways you can grow and better yourself. Not a lot of people do this, and I think I’ve found the secret.
Owning a dog, and doing a dog sport – agility – has helped me really reflect on who I am and how I can better myself. This comes through the constant learning and growing together as a team.
On the weekend I learnt a great deal about my relationship with Jaxon, and yet again he taught me a great deal. In his own way, he’s challenging me to find a better way to engage with him.
Through trialling I’ve learnt very quickly what to look for and how to better it. The reality is – it all comes down to me. If I don’t try to engage in a different and compelling way with Jaxon, he’s just going to keep finding excuses to sniff and run off. He doesn’t see me as in charge and confident. Only I can change that.
So on this Discovery Monday, I’m celebrating the path Jaxon is teaching me, and finding a way to better myself.
Through that we’ll have an even stronger relationship!

It is awesome isn’t it. Heard the saying ‘you get the dog you need not the dog you want’ and live by it.
It is interesting that there has been reflective posts on all our blogs after saturday evening’s agility trial… Wonder why… !
I think ‘you get the dog you need not the dog you want’ is a great saying, and definitely fitting.
