I’m not sure I’ll be able to carry all that to the car, mum… Jaxon ponders what’s going in the car for this weekend

We’ve arrived
Well, we’re here. Bathurst was a hot and muggy 33.5 DC when we arrived this afternoon.
The room is good enough, and lots of other dog families are staying here, so we feel very welcome.
Our afternoon walk was a quick stroll around the block, then straight home for preparation before our big weekend.
I’m not sure Jaxon understands why I brought his crate to sleep in…
One small reprieve, the weather has changes & brought a very cool change and rain. The dogs will do much better in the cooler weather, and I’m glad I packed my long pants and shirt!
Our First Trial
Well, we did it! We got through the first trial without too much trouble, and had lots of fun as well.
We joined the Agility dog club of NSW for their Tuesday night agility trial in Castle Hill.
We were second up in the 300 height category, after one of our friends from Paws4fun was bumped up to the 300 class from 200, after being measured. The course was good. Not too easy, not too hard, and our biggest fear was missing the weaves.
Weaves again…
Another day getting out in the yard and playing “weaves”. Jaxon loves food so much it’s taken a week to transition him from chasing a treat out of the weaves to chasing a ball.
Last week we started with Susan Garrett’s 2×2 Weaves DVD. While the DVD says you can get a dog weaving in just 12 days, we learnt quickly that Susan is training the dog 3 times a day.
No wonder Jaxon wasn’t up to speed – we’d only been training twice a day at most! Now we’re taking it a bit slower & watching the DVD in parts so as to keep up with Susan in the right places.
Getting started
About 2 years ago, Jaxon & I set out to get properly trained and improve our lifestyle and fitness, improve our relationship, and start agility.
We finally made it to agility, and have been enjoying the learning process. In this blog we’ll share our training, tricks, and all the fun we’re having along the way.
